Motion Studio Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-10-19
This policy says what Motion Studio does with your data. The short version: the software runs on your Mac, keeps your work on your Mac, and sends nothing to us.
1. What we collect
When you buy the software we keep your name and email address, to send you your licence key, to answer support and to tell you about updates. Payment goes through the bank or payment service we agree on, under its own policy; we do not see your card details. We do not sell or share what we hold. Ask us at support@aifirelab.com and we delete it.
When you enter your licence key, the software sends us the key, a hashed identifier of your Mac (a one-way hash, not the identifier itself), your Mac's name as set in System Settings, and the software's version. Once a day while the desk is open it sends the key and the hashed identifier again to confirm the key is still valid; it keeps working for 30 days without that check. We keep these records to count the Macs a key is used on and to turn a key off. The Setup page removes this Mac from your key; ask us to delete the rest.
The software itself collects nothing. It has no account, no analytics, no crash reporting and no usage tracking. We never see what you make.
Once a day, while the desk is open, it asks our website for the newest version number. That request carries no account, name or identifier. Like any web request it shows your network address to the server; we keep no log of it. Installing an update is your choice, and the update itself is downloaded from our website only when you choose to install it.
2. What stays on your Mac
Everything the software makes lives in the folder Motion Studio in your home folder: your pieces, your library, your settings, your conversations with Claude, the costs it adds up and the log of its local server. API keys you add are stored in the macOS Keychain. Your own photo and voice, if you add them, are kept in that folder too. If you sign in to Instagram or X for references, that login stays in the folder's work/social. The desk is a local web page served only to your Mac (127.0.0.1); it accepts no connection from other computers or websites.
The costs page reads Claude Code's own transcripts in the .claude folder of your home folder to add up what each piece spent. It reads them on your Mac and sends nothing.
3. What goes to other services, and when
The software talks to other services only when you use a feature that needs them, under your own accounts and their own privacy policies:
- Anthropic: every message you send in the desk, and the files Claude Code reads in the piece's folder, go to Anthropic through Claude Code under your Claude account. Anthropic's privacy policy and your plan's terms govern that data, including whether it is used for training. We never see it.
- OpenAI, Google, ElevenLabs, HeyGen, fal and MiniMax: the prompts, scripts, images and recordings you choose to generate with go to the service whose key you added. Your own photo and voice go only to the service you point them at (ElevenLabs for a voice, HeyGen for a presenter) and only when you run that step. When you ask the software to watch a reference video or check a draft, the video goes to Google's Gemini.
- Apify, Pixabay, YouTube, Instagram, X, NASA, the Internet Archive, Wikimedia Commons, Freesound through Openverse and Google Fonts: your search terms and downloads for references, stock footage, sounds and fonts go to those sites.
- Once a day the desk reads current prices from the services' public pages and, for the services whose keys you added, your balance or plan, to show on the costs page.
- The Setup page downloads Claude Code from Anthropic, Homebrew from GitHub, the Whisper model from Hugging Face and Chrome from Google, each from its publisher.
Speech to text (Whisper), voice separation (Demucs), voice cleaning (Apple's voice isolation, ClearerVoice), cutouts and face finding (Apple Vision) and every render run on your Mac and send nothing.
4. Children
The software is for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
5. Your rights
Ask us at support@aifirelab.com to see, correct or delete what we hold about you: your name, email address, purchase record and licence activations. For data held by Anthropic or the other services, contact them.
